My internship report from HeiGIT, the Heidelberg Institute for Geoinformation Technology, covering the tasks and responsibilities, the DIRC Dashboard and Story Map work, the Natura2000 geospatial pipeline, and my reflections on the experience.

The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) is an innovative educational initiative that combines online learning with short-term physical mobility. In this project, I explore the use of drones in environmental sciences, focusing on their applications in data collection, monitoring, and analysis. The BIP provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with drone technology while collaborating with international peers and experts in the field.

In May 2026, I had the privilege of visiting the European Open Data Cube (EODC) and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna. This excursion provided me with a unique perspective on how satellite data is stored, processed, and utilized to serve humanity. The experience highlighted the importance of open data initiatives and international collaboration in addressing global challenges through space technology.

During the Spring School, I had the opportunity to explore the intersection of emotions and cartography. This experience allowed me to understand how maps can evoke feelings and how emotional responses can influence our perception of spatial data. Through various activities and discussions, I gained insights into the power of maps in shaping our understanding of the world around us.
